BRIDGEHAMPTON

The BARC contingent went far east to the tip of Long Island on many an occassion. The Bridge was a BARC kind of course. Fast, scary and a bit dangerous it suited Sherm Decker, Bob Bucher, Don Yenko, Oscar Koveleski, Alan Friedland and others. The problem? The BARC cars did not fare well; mechanical problems usually spelled doom after our boys were up front. Here are shots and captions from 1963 to 1968.

Sherm Decker was one of the bravest drivers of the time. He loved Bridgehampton because it was fast and it was scary. His only rival for being the master at The Bridge was Walt Hansgen.
