WILMOT HILLS

Located just north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border in Wilmot, Wisconsin, the track was active from 1953 to 1967. It was very short, only 7/10ths to 1 mile long, according to different accounts. But as one of the first purpose-built road courses in the midwest, it was very heavily used, the scene of many driver schools, club races and other track events during its lifetime. As you can see on this page, 3 races in 2 months; two of them 1 week apart.

Wilmot Hills Race Course was first constructed in 1953. It was rebuilt in 1957 by Chicago Region SCCA members on land leased from the ski hill owners. This summer use coordinated neatly with the land's winter use as a ski area.
