Sherm Decker in the Cooper-Ford worked his way up from mid-pak to challenge Lowther but spun in the effort and finished 5th.

Sherm Decker is working hard in the Cooper Ford to stay in front of Alan Frieland’s Elva. Two BARC drivers finished well with Friedland 3rd and Sherm 5th.

Brad Parker, a local DC resident in a spanking new Elva MkVIII BMW raced in E Modified. The car blew a head gasket and Parker retired.

George Aldermann his Cooper Alfa. George ran well and led Mark Donohue until near the end. The car failed him to a 16th place finish.

Start of the big bore production car race. Harold Keck in the Cobra on pole, Charlie Kolb in the 904 Porsche middle and Don Yenko in his BP Corvette on the outside. Yenko would beat the Porsche to the line for 2nd place by a car length.

Don Yenko smiles for the camera as he collects his checkered flag for winning B Production. Yenko, a true BARC member was also second overall to the AP 427 Cobra.

Ron Grable’s EP Porsche kept the lead from a hard charging Bruce Jennings to win and collect valuable points. Burt Everett and George Frey were close to Grable but both dropped out early.

Bob Tullius in the TR-4 won DP and was 2nd overall in the CP-DP race. Only Bruce Jennings Porsche Carrera was ahead.

Al Costner’s Sunbeam Alpine fitted Dunlop green dots for the wet track and walked away with the win. Brian Furstenau kept him honest until a flat tire moved him far back.

Art Riley’s Volvo P-1800 did not have a good day. We don’t remember what caused it, maybe no rain tires, but Art was uncharacteristically far back in FP.

Brad Picard in the MGB fought with John Kelly’s Porsche and finished 4th overall and 2nd in DP to Tullius’ TR-4

BARC stalwart Harry Reynolds in his Lotus 11 known as the Torking Dog. By 1965 the 11 was no longer a competitive machine, but Harry always drove it quickly.

Dave Zych and Judy Beattie represented the BARC. Zych created and wrote the BARC gazette for many years before taking over The Straighpipe newsletter for the DC region. Judy competed in both a Lotus Super 7 and later a Lotus 23.

BARC driver Donna Mae Mims raced her pink TR-3. She slipped and slid on dry weather tires to 7th.

SEPTEMBER 1964 saw a Divisional at Marlboro. At this race Alan Friedland had to change his number from 14 to 24. We have no results or entry list for that race. If you have something please email us.

Still in a fight, Oscar’s Ferrari-Chev still leads O’Brien’s Ferrari. A testament to how quick a driver Oscar was.

Harry Reynolds was a regular at Marlboro and this great Bud Hofer photo shows 3 cars going in multiple directions. Harry headed to the oval, the blue Lotus heading into Cappy’s and the Genie on the long front straight. This shot is the essence of Marlboro.

Oscar Koveleski at the summer event had to change from his usual number 54 to 4. Here he leads the mid engined Ferrari of Tom O’Brien.
