As he had 2 weeks prior at Lime Rock, George Constantine in his Aston Martin DBR2 walked away with the 40 lap race
The Elisha Walker owned Aston was the same car Moss drove to victory at Goodwood and Outlon Park but now with the huge 4.9 liter motor.
Bob Said driving Bill Sadlers MkII comes up to lap the Austin Healey-Chev of John Reimer and the Jomar of Ray Saidel. Said finished 2nd to Constantine.
Allan Markelson’s Ferrari 500 TRC 0668MDTR finished 5th. He also ran the previous USAC race at Lime Rock finishing 3rd. This was a very famous 2 liter machine having won its class at Sebring in 1957.
USAC pulled as many favors as possible and got Jim Rathman who had won the F1 race of two worlds at Monza earlier and would go on to win Indy in 1960. The Lister Bristol failed to finish.
Constantine brakes hard to avoid a pack of cars as Jim Rathman goes off the road leaving the oval. Roscoe Searles AC with a Jag engine is going left, Roger Ward is inside the Corvette of John Herrera. Markelson’s Ferrari and Saidel’s Jomar go left
Rain plagued the event with cold showers arriving in the morning. It kept the crowd away and the race was a financial disaster for USAC and the track. It was reported only 1,600 people attended.
There was not much for Harlan to shoot so he got another shot of a very relaxed Constantine stroking the Aston Martin DBR2/1 to its second victory in two weeks.
