1966 SEBRING 12 HOURS

Stage 2 of the Ford vs Ferrari saga. Ford comes with Shelby & Holman-Moody MK II’s plus Alan Mann, Comstock and a fistful of other GT-40’s. Ferrari summoned up just one 206 S for Lorenzo Bandini & Ludovico Scarfiotti. It was fast but the Fords, with drivers like Dan Gurney, A J Foyt, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill plus a dozen other world class drivers could not be denied. Ferrari kept it interesting running the 206S and an older 330 P2 with Mario Andretti and Pedro Rodriguez in the top 10. An interesting twist at the finish giving the Lloyd Ruby and Ken Miles X-1 Ford Mk II the victory. Our friend Craige Pelouze was there with a racecar and a camera. On Friday, Sebring had the first TransAm in history - a 4 hour sedan race. Pelouze was there with a Ford Cortina It did not go well, but now 54 years later, his photos and recollections are featured here.
