Front of the grid has Penske on pole Hap Sharp in the middle and Holbert on the outside	Near the back is Rip Ripley's Porsche, Doc Wylie #22 Lola, Matt Brewer's Maserati & 777 Allard	Holbert on the front row is followed by #12 Ed Lowthers Lister and #19 Hal Keck's Lister	Herb Swan and Bob Bucher sit and wait for the start	Hap Sharp sits in the middle of the front row in his Texas Cooper
Start has Bucher bogged down and #20 Corvette special of EA Smith goes by	Roger Penske's Telar Special had to be covered up, but #6 was the class of the field	Hap Sharp's Cooper Monaco ran second to Penske	Holbert in the Porsche couldn't catch the faster Coopers but beat everyone else to 3rd	Bellowing Costin Lister of EE Hobbs Jr was a solid 4th
Bucher recovered and had a race long duel with Swann and finished sixth just behind Swan	The last iteration of the famous Kelso-Chev with Ed Lowther was also a DNF	How great did those 4 cam Porsche motors sound out of that stinger exhaust system	Dick Blair's beautiful red Birdcage was 8th	Ripley ran well but failed to finish in his RS-60
